Justin F. Heinrich
Justin Heinrich joined the firm as an associate in 2010.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Heinrich was an associate at the law firm Proskauer Rose where he practiced both civil and criminal litigation and was in the Appellate and Corporate Defense and Investigations practice groups. In addition to his civil litigation experience, Mr. Heinrich's criminal defense experience includes representation of clients charged with grand larceny, scheme to defraud, criminal antitrust, tax fraud, bank fraud and Medicaid fraud. Mr. Heinrich has participated in internal investigations and information gathering and analysis, pre and post-trial motion practice, trial, and appellate procedure.
Examples of matters he has worked on include:
- representation of an individual charged with scheme to defraud, criminal antitrust and thirty-five counts of grand larceny stemming from allegations of insurance bid rigging, price-fixing and customer allocation which resulted in 10-month trial and subsequent appeal of the sole conviction of criminal antitrust and the eventual vacatur of his conviction;
- representation of an international hotelier charged with tax fraud and bank fraud; and
- an internal investigation of a home health care company in connection with allegations of Medicaid fraud.
In addition, Mr. Heinrich is commited to probono work, having represented a Canadian resident seeking child support from her former same-sex partner, resulting in the New York Court of Appeals decision, In the Matter of H.M. v. E.T., 2010 Slip Op. 03756 (May 4, 2010), holding that the Family Court has subject matter jurisidiction to hear the child support petition.
He is a member of the bar of New York State and admitted to practice in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He graduated magna cum laude from Hofstra University Law School where he attended on a full academic scholarship and holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Southeast Missouri State University.
He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and currently serves on its Committee on Courts of Appellate Jurisdiction. He is also a member of the American Bar Association.
