Jordan M. Dressler

Jordan Dressler has been a criminal defense attorney since he began his legal career at the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society, New York City’s main provider of criminal defense representation to indigent defendants. Mr. Dressler worked in Legal Aid’s Bronx office, where he handled thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases, involving charges ranging from turnstile-jumping and shoplifting to forcible rape and armed robbery, from arraignment through plea or trial.

As an associate with Robert Gottlieb’s office, Mr. Dressler has represented individual and organizational clients in criminal investigations and prosecutions in state and federal courts. He also routinely handles appeals and post-conviction motions in criminal cases.

Mr. Dressler is a graduate of Brown University and of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he was elected Commencement Speaker in 1999. He is a member of the bar of New York State, and he is admitted to practice in the Federal courts of the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York. Mr. Dressler is a member of the Criminal Law Committee of the New York City Bar.

Mr. Dressler has been a Continuing Legal Education instructor on the topics of mitigation and plea bargaining for the Assigned Counsel Plan of the City of New York. He regularly lectures and serves as a moot court judge on criminal justice issues at Cardozo Law School, New York University Law School and in New York City public schools. He also serves as an Arbitrator in the Kings County Small Claims Court and is a member of Community Board 6 in Brooklyn, New York.
